Build-to-Print Contract Manufacturing & Fabrication
Iron Ax provides build-to-print contract manufacturing, fabrication, and machining for equipment manufacturers and industrial customers. When your company has engineered drawings, specifications, or an established design that needs to be manufactured, Iron Ax can provide the fabrication and machining capacity needed to turn those drawings into finished components and assemblies.
Our manufacturing facility in Wadley, Georgia combines heavy fabrication, welding, machining, plasma cutting, hydraulic cylinder manufacturing, and component manufacturing under one roof. This allows Iron Ax to handle projects involving both fabricated and machined components without requiring the customer to coordinate multiple suppliers.
Whether you need a one-time fabricated assembly, overflow manufacturing capacity, replacement components, prototype work, or repeat production, send us your drawings and specifications and let us evaluate the project.
Iron Ax works with customer-supplied drawings and specifications to manufacture fabricated assemblies, structural components, machined parts, and industrial equipment. We are interested in developing long-term relationships with OEMs and equipment manufacturers that need dependable outside manufacturing capacity.

REQUEST A QUOTEBuild-to-Print Manufacturing Capabilities
Iron Ax has manufactured heavy industrial equipment and components for decades. Our build-to-print manufacturing services allow other equipment manufacturers to utilize that experience and capacity for their own products and projects.
Contract Manufacturing for Equipment Manufacturers
Equipment manufacturers do not always need or want to manufacture every fabricated component in their own facility. Production schedules change, large projects can consume available capacity, new orders can arrive faster than additional employees or equipment can be added, and certain assemblies may simply be better suited for an outside manufacturing partner.
Iron Ax can serve as an outside build-to-print manufacturing resource for OEMs that need additional fabrication or machining capacity.
The customer maintains control of the engineering, design, specifications, and product requirements. Iron Ax manufactures the components or assemblies according to the information provided for the project.
This arrangement allows equipment manufacturers to increase production capacity without necessarily adding additional floor space, machinery, or employees for every increase in demand.
Fabrication and Machining Under One Roof
Many industrial assemblies require more than welding alone. A fabricated frame may also require machined shafts, pins, bushings, sleeves, bearing locations, accurately located holes, bored components, hydraulic cylinder mounts, or other precision parts.
Iron Ax combines fabrication and machining capabilities within the same manufacturing operation. This allows fabricated and machined components to be produced together and evaluated as part of the complete assembly.
Our in-house machine shop can manufacture many of the components required to complete fabricated equipment, including:
Heavy Fabrication Capacity
Iron Ax is an established equipment manufacturer with a large industrial manufacturing facility designed to handle substantial fabricated assemblies and heavy components.
Our facility includes approximately 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space, multiple overhead cranes, large roll-up doors, fabrication areas, plasma cutting capability, and an in-house machine shop. The facility gives Iron Ax the ability to receive raw material, fabricate substantial assemblies, perform related machining operations, and load completed equipment for shipment.
For OEM customers, that means Iron Ax can evaluate more than small brackets or individual machine parts. We are interested in projects ranging from individual components to larger fabricated equipment assemblies.
Customer-Supplied Drawings and Specifications
Build-to-print manufacturing begins with clear project information. Customers can provide engineered drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of material, specifications, models, material requirements, welding requirements, quantities, and other documents necessary to manufacture the project.
Before quoting, Iron Ax can review the supplied information to determine whether the project fits our equipment, manufacturing capabilities, available capacity, and production requirements.
Depending on the project, information may include:
Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Projects
Iron Ax has extensive experience manufacturing heavy industrial equipment and fabricated assemblies from carbon steel. We are also interested in evaluating build-to-print projects involving stainless steel where the project’s material, welding, finishing, inspection, and documentation requirements are a good fit for our capabilities.
Because stainless steel requirements can vary considerably from one application to another, projects involving stainless steel are reviewed individually before quotation. Customers should provide the applicable material grades, welding requirements, surface-finish requirements, inspection requirements, and any required documentation as part of the RFQ package.
Overflow Manufacturing Capacity
One of the most useful roles for an outside manufacturing partner is providing additional capacity when an OEM’s own facility or existing suppliers are full.
Iron Ax is interested in working with manufacturers that need an additional qualified source for fabricated assemblies and machined components. This may include overflow work, additional capacity for a large project, production of specific assemblies, or an ongoing relationship in which Iron Ax manufactures selected products or components from customer-supplied drawings.
Our goal is not simply to quote a single project. We are interested in establishing long-term manufacturing relationships with companies that need dependable fabrication and machining support.
Prototype, One-Off and Repeat Production
Not every manufacturing requirement involves hundreds of identical parts. Industrial equipment manufacturers frequently need prototypes, first articles, one-time project assemblies, custom variations, replacement assemblies, and relatively small production quantities.
Iron Ax can evaluate both individual projects and repeat manufacturing opportunities. Once a component or assembly has been successfully manufactured, future requirements can be quoted based on quantities, specifications, material availability, and production schedules.
Industries We Can Support
Build-to-print fabrication and machining can serve equipment manufacturers across many industrial markets. Iron Ax is interested in manufacturing opportunities involving equipment and components for industries such as:

Our Build-to-Print Manufacturing Process
1. Send Us the RFQ Package
Provide the drawings, specifications, bill of materials, quantities, required delivery schedule, and other information necessary to evaluate the project.
2. Iron Ax Reviews the Project
We review the fabrication, machining, material, dimensional, welding, finishing, inspection, and delivery requirements to determine whether the project is a good fit for our manufacturing capabilities.
3. We Prepare a Quote
For projects that fit our capabilities, Iron Ax prepares pricing and estimated production requirements based on the information supplied.
4. Manufacture From Your Drawings
Once an order is placed and the required documentation is established, Iron Ax manufactures the components or assemblies according to the customer’s approved drawings and specifications.
5. Complete Related Machining and Assembly
When required, related pins, bushings, shafts, sleeves, bores, mounting components, hydraulic components, and other machined parts can be produced in-house as part of the overall project.
6. Prepare for Delivery or Shipment
Completed components and assemblies can be prepared for customer pickup, common-carrier shipment, or other appropriate transportation based on the size and requirements of the project.
Why Equipment Manufacturers Work With Iron Ax
Iron Ax is not a newly established job shop. We are an equipment manufacturer ourselves. We understand that an OEM’s reputation depends on the quality, fit, reliability, and delivery of the components incorporated into its finished equipment.
Our combination of fabrication, machining, hydraulic cylinder manufacturing, heavy material handling, and equipment-manufacturing experience allows us to evaluate projects that require several manufacturing disciplines.
For manufacturers searching for an additional fabrication source, overflow capacity, or a long-term build-to-print manufacturing partner, Iron Ax is ready to review your drawings and determine whether we can help.
