Heavy Equipment Repair, Fabrication & Machining
Iron Ax provides heavy equipment repair, structural welding, steel fabrication, line boring, pin and bushing manufacturing, custom machining, hydraulic cylinder repair, and replacement-component manufacturing for construction, forestry, recycling, mining, agricultural, industrial, municipal, and material-handling equipment.
Some equipment failures require more than one type of repair. A damaged loader arm, boom, attachment, linkage, or mounting assembly may require structural steel replacement, welding, bore restoration, line boring, a new pin, custom bushings, machining, and hydraulic cylinder work before the equipment can return to service.
Iron Ax brings these capabilities together under one roof. Instead of sending different portions of the job to several shops, customers can bring us the damaged component, attachment, assembly, or machine section and let our team evaluate the complete problem.

Heavy Equipment Structural Repair
Heavy loading, impact, metal fatigue, worn pins and bushings, misalignment, and years of use can damage loader arms, booms, frames, brackets, mounts, linkage, attachments, and other structural components. Prior repairs may also fail when damaged material was patched without correcting the underlying wear, alignment, or bore problems.
Iron Ax can inspect the damaged assembly, remove steel that is no longer suitable for service, fabricate replacement sections, restore the structure, and complete the welding and machining required for a professional repair.

Iron Ax also provides Roll-Off Truck Hydraulic Cylinder Repair for hoist, hooklift, container handling, and related hydraulic systems when repairs involve cylinders, mounting components, pins, bushings, or fabricated parts.
For damaged loader arms, bucket linkage, worn pivot points, structural steel, pins, bushings, and front-end assemblies, learn more about our Wheel Loader Boom, Linkage & Pin Repair services.
For hydraulic lifting equipment, Iron Ax also provides Crane Hydraulic Cylinder Repair for boom, telescope, outrigger, stabilizer, and related cylinders.
We do more than patch damaged steel. Our goal is to identify the complete problem and repair the component correctly.
Welding and Custom Steel Fabrication
Iron Ax manufactures heavy-duty equipment and understands that structural repairs often involve more than placing a weld over a crack. The damaged material, alignment, load path, mounting points, bore condition, surrounding steel, and intended equipment use must all be considered.
Our fabrication capabilities allow us to remove damaged sections, form and fit replacement steel, rebuild brackets and mounts, repair attachments, replace worn structural components, and complete custom modifications when standard replacement parts are unavailable.
For recycling and industrial compaction equipment, Iron Ax also provides Baler Hydraulic Cylinder Repair for main ram, compression, ejector, door, and related cylinders, including repairs that also involve pins, bushings, mounts, machining, or structural components.
Need a one-off component, attachment, bracket, mount, or fabricated assembly? Learn more about our Custom Fabrication for Heavy Equipment services.
For municipal and commercial waste-handling equipment, Iron Ax also provides Garbage Truck Hydraulic Cylinder Repair for packer, ejector, tailgate, lift, and related hydraulic cylinders.
Heavy Equipment Line Boring and Bore Repair
Worn pins and bushings can allow movement between loader arms, booms, buckets, grapples, attachments, and linkage components. As the wear progresses, the original round bores may become oversized, elongated, misaligned, or damaged.
Iron Ax can restore damaged bore areas, rebuild worn material when necessary, align related bores, and line bore the assembly to the required size. We can then manufacture the replacement pins and bushings needed to complete the repair.
Customers may bring the entire machine, a damaged attachment, or the affected boom, loader arm, linkage, frame section, or assembly when practical. Call Iron Ax to discuss the equipment, damage, size, transportation, and repair requirements.

Replacement Equipment Pins and Bushings
A bent, broken, worn, or unavailable equipment pin can take an otherwise usable machine out of service. Dealer parts may be expensive, backordered, discontinued, or available only as part of a larger assembly.
Iron Ax can manufacture replacement pins and bushings using the damaged part, mating components, measurements, drawings, equipment information, or available specifications. Our machine shop can produce shoulders, grease passages, retaining features, threads, grooves, and other details required for the application.
When worn bores, damaged linkage, or misalignment contributed to the pin failure, we can evaluate those problems as part of the same repair instead of simply making a new pin and returning it to a damaged assembly.
Have a bent, broken, worn, obsolete, or unavailable pin? Learn more about our Custom Replacement Equipment Pins.
Custom Machining and Replacement Components
Older, imported, modified, and specialized equipment may use parts that are difficult or impossible to purchase. Iron Ax can evaluate damaged or unavailable components and determine whether they can be repaired, duplicated, modified, or manufactured new.
Our in-house machining capabilities support replacement pins, bushings, shafts, clevises, rod eyes, mounts, sleeves, hydraulic cylinder components, linkage parts, spacers, and other one-off equipment components.
For telehandlers and telescopic material handlers, Iron Ax also provides Telehandler Hydraulic Cylinder Repair for boom lift, telescope, tilt, steering, stabilizer, and related cylinders.
When an OEM component is discontinued, backordered, unavailable, or only sold as part of a larger assembly, learn more about our Obsolete & Hard-to-Find Heavy Equipment Parts capabilities.
When an original drawing is unavailable, Iron Ax can also evaluate the existing part and mating assembly for Heavy Equipment Component Reverse Engineering .
Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Under the Same Roof
Equipment damage frequently involves both structural components and hydraulic cylinders. A worn pin, damaged bushing, broken mount, or misaligned linkage can side-load a hydraulic cylinder, bend the rod, damage seals, wear the gland, and create repeated cylinder failures.
Iron Ax repairs, rebuilds, repacks, and manufactures hydraulic cylinders. Our full-service machine shop manufactures glands, pistons, chrome rods, cylinder barrels, clevises, mounts, pins, bushings, and related components in-house.

You May Not Need to Bring the Entire Machine
Depending on the equipment and repair, customers may be able to bring only the damaged boom, loader arm, bucket, grapple, attachment, frame section, linkage assembly, hydraulic cylinder, pin, shaft, or other component.
Call Iron Ax before transporting the equipment so we can discuss what is damaged, what should be removed, the approximate size and weight, unloading requirements, photographs, measurements, and any information that may help us evaluate the project.
What to Bring or Tell Us
Repair, Rebuild, or Manufacture a Replacement?
Not every damaged component should be repaired in the same way. Some parts can be restored. Others require damaged steel to be removed and replaced, bores to be rebuilt and machined, or a new pin, bushing, shaft, mount, or complete component to be manufactured.
Bring the problem to Iron Ax. We can inspect what you have, explain what we find, and help determine the most practical approach for returning the equipment to service.
