REQUEST A QUOTEApproximately 50,000 Square Feet of Manufacturing Space
Industrial manufacturing often requires more than individual machines. It requires floor space, access, lifting capability, material storage, staging areas, fabrication space, machining capacity, assembly room, and the ability to move finished equipment through the facility.
Iron Ax’s approximately 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility provides the space needed to handle projects ranging from individual components to large fabricated equipment assemblies.
The size of the facility allows multiple projects and manufacturing operations to be coordinated within the same location while providing room for material staging, fabrication, machining, assembly, inspection, and shipment preparation.
Overhead Crane Capacity
Iron Ax’s manufacturing facility includes multiple overhead cranes used to move heavy material, fabricated components, machinery, hydraulic cylinders, and large assemblies throughout the shop.
Overhead lifting capability is especially important for projects involving large weldments, heavy plate, structural assemblies, machinery frames, and components that cannot be safely or efficiently handled by smaller equipment.
The crane systems allow our fabrication and machine-shop teams to position large components during manufacturing, machining, assembly, and loading operations.
Heavy Fabrication Capability
Iron Ax has decades of experience manufacturing and repairing heavy industrial equipment and fabricated assemblies.
Our fabrication capabilities can support customer-supplied drawings for equipment structures, frames, bases, skids, supports, hoppers, chutes, troughs, platforms, machine components, material-handling assemblies, and other welded structures.
For OEM customers, Iron Ax can evaluate both one-time projects and repeat build-to-print manufacturing requirements.
Manufacturers looking for outside production support can learn more about our Build-to-Print Contract Manufacturing & Fabrication services.
In-House Machine Shop
Iron Ax maintains an in-house machine shop that supports both our own equipment manufacturing and outside customer projects.
This gives us the ability to machine many components required as part of a fabricated assembly without sending the work to another supplier.
Depending on the project, our machine shop can evaluate components such as:
For projects focused specifically on machined components, see our OEM Contract Machining & Build-to-Print Machine Shop page.
Plasma Cutting and Material Preparation
Iron Ax’s plasma cutting capability supports the fabrication of industrial components, structural parts, brackets, mounting plates, equipment pieces, and larger assemblies.
Having cutting capability within the manufacturing operation helps coordinate material preparation with fabrication and reduces dependence on outside suppliers for many project requirements.
Customer-supplied drawing packages can be reviewed to determine whether the required materials, thicknesses, dimensions, and part geometry fit our available cutting and fabrication capabilities.
Large Access Doors and Equipment Movement
A manufacturing facility must be able to move large equipment and assemblies in and out of the building efficiently.
Iron Ax’s facility includes multiple large roll-up doors and substantial shop access, allowing raw material, heavy components, equipment, trailers, trucks, and completed assemblies to move through the manufacturing operation.
This is particularly useful for larger fabrication projects that would be difficult to manufacture or assemble in a smaller job shop.
Fabrication and Machining Under One Roof
One of the strongest advantages of Iron Ax’s facility is the combination of manufacturing capabilities located within the same operation.
A customer project may involve plasma-cut parts, fabricated structures, machined pins, shafts, bushings, bores, hydraulic cylinder components, assembly, and final preparation for shipment.
Rather than automatically dividing those operations among multiple suppliers, Iron Ax can evaluate whether the complete package can be manufactured within our facility.
For OEM customers, this can simplify purchasing, communication, scheduling, and project coordination.
Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacturing and Repair
Iron Ax also operates a dedicated hydraulic cylinder manufacturing and repair operation within our facility.
Our hydraulic capabilities include cylinder repair, rebuilding, repacking, custom cylinder manufacturing, component machining, chrome rod work, barrel work, and pressure testing.
For OEM manufacturing projects involving hydraulic equipment, this capability can provide another manufacturing resource under the same roof.
Industrial Equipment Manufacturing Experience
Iron Ax is not simply a building filled with fabrication and machining equipment. We have decades of experience manufacturing industrial machinery and heavy equipment.
That equipment-manufacturing background helps us understand the relationship between an individual fabricated component and the complete machine it becomes part of.
We understand that OEM customers depend on their manufacturing partners for dimensional accuracy, fit, welding quality, machining quality, communication, and delivery because those components ultimately affect the performance and reputation of the finished equipment.
Build-to-Print Contract Manufacturing
Iron Ax is expanding its build-to-print manufacturing relationships with OEMs and industrial equipment manufacturers.
The customer provides the engineering, approved drawings, specifications, material requirements, quantities, and other manufacturing requirements. Iron Ax evaluates the package and determines whether the project fits our equipment, available capacity, and production capabilities.
Projects may include fabricated assemblies, machined components, complete weldments, structural equipment components, or manufacturing packages involving both fabrication and machining.
Water and Wastewater Equipment Fabrication
Iron Ax is also interested in developing build-to-print manufacturing relationships with water and wastewater equipment manufacturers.
These OEM projects may involve equipment frames, troughs, hoppers, conveyor structures, platforms, supports, skids, clarifier components, screening equipment structures, sludge-handling assemblies, grit-handling components, and related machined parts.
Iron Ax’s role is manufacturing from customer-supplied engineering and approved drawings rather than designing the customer’s treatment process or proprietary equipment.
Water and wastewater OEMs can learn more on our Contract Fabrication for Water & Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers page.
Overflow Manufacturing Capacity
Manufacturing demand can change faster than floor space, machinery, or employees can be added.
Large orders, project backlogs, labor shortages, machine downtime, or an unusually large fabrication package can create immediate capacity requirements for an OEM or its existing suppliers.
Iron Ax welcomes opportunities to provide overflow fabrication and machining capacity for manufacturers that need an additional production resource.
This may involve a single project, temporary backlog relief, selected assemblies, or an ongoing supplier relationship.
Second-Source and Alternate Supplier Opportunities
Many manufacturers prefer to have more than one capable supplier for important components and assemblies.
An additional fabrication or machining source can provide extra production capacity, improve supply-chain resilience, reduce dependency on one vendor, or provide a backup when a primary supplier is fully loaded.
Iron Ax welcomes opportunities to be evaluated as a second source or alternate supplier for customer-designed components and equipment assemblies.
Material Handling and Large Assembly Capability
Large industrial projects often require the ability to safely move and position heavy material throughout the manufacturing process.
Our facility’s overhead cranes, floor space, large access doors, and material-handling equipment support the movement of plate, structural material, large weldments, machinery components, hydraulic cylinders, and finished assemblies.
This allows Iron Ax to evaluate projects that may be too large or cumbersome for smaller fabrication shops.
From Raw Material to Finished Assembly
Depending on the project, Iron Ax can coordinate several stages of manufacturing within the same facility.
1. Receive the Customer’s Drawing Package
We review the supplied drawings, specifications, materials, quantities, tolerances, welding requirements, machining requirements, inspection requirements, and delivery expectations.
2. Material Preparation
Required material is received, staged, cut, and prepared for fabrication based on the approved project requirements.
3. Fabrication and Welding
Components and assemblies are fabricated according to the customer’s approved drawings and specifications.
4. Machining
